2007 Adair County Pride: At Cane Valley

2007-04-27 - Downtown Cane Valley, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
Lisa Lee, Adair County Pride co-Coordinator, and Max Taylor, owner of Taylor Feed Store in Downtown Cane Valley, discussed a better location for the replacement dumpster. At 9:00am this morning the call was made for a replacement dumpster at Cane Valley. Business was brisk, according to to Lee. "They always give me the busiest locations," she said. Last week, at Knifley, Lee's crew handled almost half the county's volume, 5 of 11 dumpsters. Max Taylor has operated the feed and tack store for 30 years. The store is the principal hangout for loafers and whittlers in Cane Valley. Cane Valley was one of the most active places in Adair County today. With soaring, $3-plus gasoline in Columbia, traffic was very light. But at Cane Valley, the dumpster service was busy, and preparation for a major Bryant Realty Auction was impacting most of downtown. Saturday in the Valley is expected to be busier yet, with the Auction and a big supper and gospel singing at New Life for the Nations, but that is up on the Highway, on KY 55, in Greater Cane Valley. The brick building on the left is the old bank building, and that's the Cane Valley Christian Church in the center.
