Candlelight vigil at KSP Post 15 honors Trooper Hayden Phillips

2026-10-02 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
As Thursday, October 1, 2026 closed in on 6pmCT - the time scheduled for the candlelight vigil for Trooper Hayden Phillips - the somber crowd was gathering at KSP Post 15 in Columbia. A portion of KY 55 south and the Cumberland Parkway entrance was closed off for the crowd. Hundreds attended to honor their brother who was murdered Monday in Smiths Grove just north of Bowling Green.
"Russell County mourns, Columbia mourns, the Kentucky State Police mourns," Captain Jeremy Smith said. "And tonight, we mourn together."
