Dr. Ben Arnold was applauded after he made his gift of the Columbian Theater official at Thursday's Adair County School Board meeting. Last November it was leased to the schools for one dollar toward the possibility of the schools ultimately becoming the beneficiary of the historic property at 126 Public Square. Doug Beard, at right, was credited with having the vision of possibilities for the school district becoming its leaders. He and Dr. Stephens began communications with Dr. Arnold last year.
