Applause given for gift of Columbian Theater

Dr. Ben Arnold was applauded after he made his gift of the Columbian Theater official at Thursday's Adair County School Board meeting. Last November it was leased to the schools for one dollar toward the possibility of the schools ultimately becoming the beneficiary of the historic property at 126 Public Square. The gift was made official before the one year mark as progress has steadily continued.

Columbian Theater gift made official

Superintendent Pamela Stephens presented Dr. Ben Arnold with a special shirt showing the historic Columbian Theater sign, complete with the reflection of the courthouse, after he made his gift official. Doug Beard, at right, was credited with having the vision of possibilities for the school district becoming its leaders. He and Dr. Stephens began communications with Dr. Arnold last year.

Food Pantry each third Thursday at Ravenna SBC

Ravenna Separate Baptist Church located at 1400 Reece Hurt Road, Edmonton, KY operates a Community Food Pantry in Metcalfe County.

The Food Pantry is open the 3rd Thursday of each month.

The hours of operation are from 4 pm - 6 pm. Contact number for additional information is 270-670-4811.

Birds of Kentucky: Song Sparrow

All About Birds says that Song Sparrows "seem to have a clear idea of what makes a good nest. Field researchers working for many years on the same parcels of land have noticed that some choice spots - the base of a rose bush, or a particular hollow under a hummock of grass, for example - get used over and over again, even when entirely new birds take over the territory."
