KSP Telecommunications Academy graduates

On Friday, March 21, 2025, Gov. Andy Beshear and the Kentucky State Police (KSP) announced the graduation of 17 telecommunicators from the KSP Telecommunications Academy. Local graduates include Kendall Benningfield and Ryan Engle, both with KSP Post 15 in Columbia.

Her mission is to give to family, friends and neighbors

Vanessa Taylor has meager means and her own aliments but she is always available for friends, neighbors and church family. Many know that if they need transportation to appointments, medical care or even to go to the grocery store they can call Ms. Vanessa and she will get you there.

And if she can't take you at that time she will call around to get you where you need to go. On top of transporting members of her community, Vanessa has fed so many. When she cooks to feed her family she seems to find a way to provide plates for others. Click 'read more' for the full story.

Tulip Trees blooming in pink and white

Food is Medicine Initiative at Russell Co. Hospital

As a part of the Food is Medicine Initiative, Russell County Hospital is now offering Dry Branch premium all-natural beef as an option for meals for staff, patients, and visitors. At the event's kick off were, from left, Russell County Hospital CEO Russell Thompson, Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell, Dry Branch Stock Farm Owner Zach Gibbs, Brian Andrus, from Dry Branch Stock Farm, and Travis Burton, representing the Kentucky Hospital Association.
