Unexpected Raccoon 2023-06-16 - Central Kentucky - Photo by Pen. I was watching a Great Blue Heron, who looked poised to strike at a dinner-time fish, when I saw this raccoon amble out of the cattails in the background to wash his paws. At first, I thought a daytime raccoon might be a sick raccoon. However, he did seem to be moving with a "leisurely, but determined pace," which isn't a red flag according to the Kitchener/Waterloo Humane Society--whom Google deems a top source on daytime sightings of raccoons.
