Young and old honor country's heroes

On the weekend before Memorial Day 2023, the Columbia community gathered at City Hall for a program hanging banners that honor community veterans around the Square. Retired Major, U.S. Marines, Paul Smith gave the remarks.

Veronica writes, "Children stand under banner honoring their father, US Army veteran. Spending time discussing meaning of Memorial Day. Teachable moments for children."

CTB helping out with Fourth of July celebration

Community Trust Bank is proud to help sponsor the 2023 Columbia/Adair County Fourth of July fireworks event. CTB Director Doyle Lloyd presents the donation to AC Deputy Judge Bridget Compton. He said, "We are glad to be a small part of such a great family event for the citizens of our community."

Mushroom flowers

Spotted these mushrooms on a morning walk in the park. Not sure if they normally look this way, or if a fast/dry growth caused the split to the caps that gives the flower-like appearance.
