Aging well, independent living priorities of LCAAAIL

Jeric Devore, Director of Senior Services for the Lake Cumberland Area Development District, gave an update on Aging and Independent Living in the region. Homecare is provided in the areas of chores, escorts, homemaking, personal care and respite along with legal assistance among other services. Volunteers and older residents were honored at the May board meeting.

Run for the Roses won by Sherry Spoon riding Gibby

For fun and fellowship at the May Lake Cumberland Aging and Independent Living (LCAAAIL) meeting, staffers posed in a Run for the Roses race. Riders and their horses were Sherry Spoon on Gibby, Tisha Cucic on Raising Cane and Kailey Gaither on Buttercup. Kyra Eads who would have raced on Kaisyn was unfortunately scratched. The race was held in the parking lot lined with cheering fans and the winning stick horse was Gibby ridden by Sherry.

Bypass opens in Campbellsville 9amET Tuesday

Those barriers will finally be removed. Drivers needing to go between Columbia Road and Lebanon Road will be able to do so much more quickly as of 9amET Tuesday, June 6, 2023 when the Campbellsville bypass/John "Bam" Carney Memorial Highway is opened to traffic. The new road is another part of the Heartland Parkway connecting north-south traffic.

Butterfly visits pollinator garden

Veronica writes, "While it is just a container garden, this container had a variety of pollinator-friendly flowers to attract bees and butterflies. Milkweed, lavender and chamomile are a few flowers in here. While I do not know this particular species of butterfly, we enjoy watching the winged creatures enjoy the mixture and variety offered."

Leaders tour the INFAC facility

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear joined Taylor County officials for a tour of the INFAC North America factory on Friday as the company broke ground on a $53 million expansion that will see the company add 125,000 square feet to its existing 110,000 square feet building for increased manufacturing capabilities. This project marks the second expansion by INFAC North America at their Campbellsville facility since it was established in 2008
