Travel: Clingmans Dome, Great Smoky Mountains National Park

2023-06-12 - Great Smoky Mountians National Park, TN, NC - Photo by Robert Ellis, Robert Ellis Woodworking.
Robert writes, "Part of the challenge of the half mile hike to reach the observation tower is finding parking. The wait time to snag a spot can get lengthy during the busiest time of the day.

At 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is the highest point in Tennessee, and the third highest mountain east of the Mississippi. (Pic taken will cell phone.)"

The image is a compilation of different angles of the rock (or fossilized dinosaur egg?), as well as the inside where it has split half (top right). He highlighted a "shadow shape" found in the center to make it more clear in the photo.
