When I saw this in a vintage shop recently, I pictured Miss Ruth VanZant, society news editor and office manager in the 1960s Edmonton Herald-News office. She'd answer the classic black rotary dial telephone, "Herald News," listen, nod, say unhuh, ask occasional details, then hang up and pound out a story in no time flat on a typewriter much like this one. I was the high school news reporter and she allowed me to come in after class and use it.
