Firefighters made entry into the residence and quickly extinguished the fire. A total of 11 firefighters were on scene for approximately 1.5 hours.

Bringing history and family connections together

Annita Dial and her girls participated in the work of the DAR meeting. The program featured Kantlee Harvey, age 14, who took the floor in a pink ensemble to discuss patriots Jonathan and Joseph Chipman. Laramie Baldwin, age 12, donning light blue attire, highlighted the legacy of patriot Caleb Nash. The youngest presenter, 8-year-old Lariat Baker, stood out in a flag-themed dress while sharing information about patriot George Gaddy. Annita also took the stage, discussing the significant roles played by patriots James Kerr and William French.

Genealogical Society meets to explore DAR

The Genealogical Society's recent meeting held at the Adair County Genealogy and History Center brought together a diverse group of 26 individuals who share family ties with Revolutionary War soldiers and patriots. It was conducted by members of the Jane Lampton Chapter of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution).

Sunset over milling around the historic Courthouse

Heavy equipment rolled onto the Public Square as the sun was getting low in the sky Tuesday so the night shift milling could continue. Crews plan to start full paving operations by the end of the week. Traffic will be restricted to one lane controlled by flaggers where crews are working. Motorists should expect delays during nighttime working hours, approximately 6pm to 6am.

Preparing country hams for KY State Fair

Allee Campbell, Claire Loy and Ava Loy were working at the Adair County Extension Office Tuesday, making final preparations for their hams which will be judged in the Kentucky State Fair 4-H Ham Project this Thursday.

Their hams will be judged and they will be giving a speech on the history of country hams. Senior 4-H members will give a speech on the pests that affect hams and how to control them. Adair County will have 32 youth participating among over 900 in the 4-H Ham Project.
