Kentucky Spring painting by Karen Rowland

Karen Roland, an award winning painter and secretary of the Adair County Arts Council, shared this recent work. She writes, "the wind has come today but luckily the peach blossoms have come and gone this year without being frozen. I still see their fragmented pink petals decorating the grass in places. This is my Kentucky Spring painting, oil on canvas, 24×24"."

Dr. Gerald and Sonja Chafin Music Endowment is announced

Lindsey Wilson College music professor and director of choral programs Gerald Chafin and his wife, Sonja, accept a facsimile check representing the Dr. Gerald and Sonja Chafin Music Endowment. The $110,000 endowment gift will be used to support the Lindsey Wilson Singers, which the Chafins led for 28 years.

Signs of Spring: Trout Lily

"Trout lilies bloom in early spring before the trees growing above them develop leaves," according to Wikipedia. "E. americanum does not flower for the first 4 to 7 years of its life. In any given colony, only 0.5% will have flowers."
