Red Sky at Night

Veronica writes, "On Sunday evening I took this photo of the sunset. It wasn't quite red but peachy. The following day, Monday, was such a lovely day... I guess the old adage was correct. I didn't go sailing but if I had wanted to... it would have been perfect! "

Park Squirrel poses for photos

I was at South Lake Howard Nature Park on a spring break visit to Winter Haven because it was listed a birding hotspot on the ebird app. There were indeed lots of birds to watch in this small inland park, including black crowned night herons, wood ducks, limpkins, anhingas, and even a couple of black bellied whistling ducks. But it was the squirrels who proved to be the most camera friendly.

KYSAFE brings supplies for local workers

Members of KYSAFE were in our community on Friday, April 11, 2025, with supplies for the City of Columbia Gas Department, Columbia Police Department, and Columbia Public Works.

Representatives were Aidan Johnson, Troy Phillips, and Madeline Brown. City representatives are Jordan Dean and Superintendent Jerry Watson with the gas department, Chief Evan Burton with the Columbia Police Department, and Mayor Hoots.
