Busses rolled safely after soft lockdown ended

Adair schools had to go on soft lockdown early Wednesday afternoon, November 8, 2023, while law enforcement searched for a suspect fleeing authorities who had made his way towards the campus. A "Soft Lockdown" safety measure requires all students to remain within the building, locks down, all individual schools on campus at their exterior access points, and prohibits entry for all unauthorized personnel. The Adair County Sherrif's Department, the Columbia Police Department, and the Kentucky State Police worked together to apprehend the suspect at approximately 2:40pmCT. After learning of this information, schools followed normal dismissal routines.
