Heading for the Thanksgiving Day Parade

Adair County High School Junior percussionist Grant Adamson is living in the "opportunity of a lifetime" -- he will participate in the 97th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as part of the Macy's Great American Marching Band (MCAMB). Grant and his family left for New York City last weekend in order to prepare for the big Thursday event. The parade will air live on NBC from 8:30am - Noon Thursday, November 23, 2023 or can be streamed using the Peacock app.

Congressman Comer with KSP Post 15 Detectives

First District Congressman James Comer, standing, stopped to say hello to Kentucky State Police Post 15 detectives while all were in New Columbia for lunch at Black Stallion Steakhouse Wednesday. Detective Michael Dubree, seated at left of the Congressman, shares Monroe county as home base and they always talk about local activities when their paths cross.

Transitioning to Christmas lights

The City of Columbia is getting the American flags put away for the season and putting up Christmas lights and decorations in the transition from the colors of fall to the colors of winter. The Redbud tree is adding its yellow leaves to the colors this week.

Pie, pie, me oh my!

First out of the oven for the Thanksgiving Day menu is this traditional homemade pie with mile-high meringue by chef Will White. The only way to know what's under there - chocolate, butterscotch or coconut - is to be on hand for the slicing right after turkey dinner.

ACHS Cheer senior Coffman signs with Brescia U

ACHS Cheer Senior Caylin Coffman, Adair County Back Spot, signed her letter of intention to Brescia University, a private Roman Catholic college in Owensboro, Kentucky.

"Welcoming our newest commit to our 24'-25' season team, Caylin Coffman. We are excited to add this talented back spot to the team. Welcome to the Den, Caylin!" The school said as they welcomed the Indian already.

Farewell to a fallen brother

Several Veterans were honored to carry the casket into the funeral home and salute PFC Henry Wade as they bid their fallen brother goodbye. Wade was honored throughout the Commonwealth on his route back home with a parade of law enforcement, firefighters, and dozens of Rolling Thunder veterans on their bikes. People lined the streets along the route to pay their respects to the fallen soldier who had given his life for their freedom.
