Learning basic computer skills

2023-11-27 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Jason Rector, Director of Technology, and Connie Makranszky, Lead Technology Technician, led the first class of the Adair Schools adult basic computer courses Monday evening. One of the items on the agenda was the Central Processing Unit (CPU) which fits in the palm of his hand - most people think the CPU is the whole box the hard drive is in. Connie holds the required "heat sink" which absorbs heat away from the CPU that could overheat without it.

Sunset over the fields

2023-11-27 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
This late November sunset was captured on the little road heading down the big hill past Murrell and Karen Burton's place. You'll have to stop by their office on the Square in Columbia and ask them what that road name is because the irresponsible photographer didn't make a note.

A Thanksgiving color blast

2023-11-26 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
On the way to Thanksgiving dinner with the family I had to turn in this business drive and take a quick picture of their corner of pure color. As much as I love Columbia and the improvements happening in our downtown, when I visit the kids and grandkids I admire Shelbyville's historic preservation and all the murals that give pops of color to their downtown. Of course, whoever preserved the Gingko tree over the years to allow it to grow to three stories of shimmering glory gets special marks. - LW

Scenic Adair Co.: More than just a cloud?

2023-11-25 - Adair Co., KY - Photo by Tommy Bailey.
Tommy captured this dramatic sky over Birch Road on November 11, 2023. He wonders, "Is this just another cloud or an Angelic encounter?"
