Birds of Kentucky: Sandhill Crane 2024-02-05 - Kissimmee, FL - Photo by Pen. Sandhill Cranes are frequent fliers in Kentucky skies, and occasionally land in great numbers in open corn fields. When they're wintering down in Florida, they can be found in 2's and 4's wandering city streets, parks and golf courses. I did my best to slowly approach this bird and another in a park, thinking that I might spook them, only to have them come so close that I had to keep backing up just to get room for a photo.
