A unique architectural parking lot marvel
 2026-02-02 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by April Yurcevic Shepperd. Winter storm Fern brought snow, covered by ice, covered by more snow, and this picture is an example of the creative responses. First responders move the snow and ice as quickly as possible, pushing it up into piles to get it out of the way. Neighborhood kids took this huge pile of snow in the corner on Burkesville and Guardian Streets that hasn't had a chance to melt and created a fantastic play space. April, pictured in the entry way, says, "Thank you to the talented, albeit cold, engineers who braved the wicked temperatures to bring joy to our community!"

Brianna Hillock honored for exceptional cross-country season

ACHS senior Brianna Hillock was honored for her outstanding success in the track disciplines. She is pictured with Supt. Jason Faulkner. The board recognized her for an exceptional cross-country season.
Hillock placed sixth out of 223 runners at the state cross-country meet, earning first-team all-state and 2A all-region honors. She plans to continue her running career at the University of the Cumberlands.
