Pam Hancock, honored as a role model for women
2024-03-13 - Columbia, KY - Photo from the business.
Pam Hancock of Columbia operates three McDonald’s locations in Kentucky in addition to civic work and family and friends involvement.
She has been locally recognized as Outstanding Business Woman of the Year by the Columbia Adair County Chamber of Commerce in 2011 and was selected by other McDonald’s owner operators in the south central Kentucky region to serve on the business unit’s board.

She takes pride in both giving back to the community and serving as a role model to other women.

On the Rogers farm - ever see a cow sitting?
2024-03-13 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Joe Rogers. CPD Detective Sgt. Evan Burton writes, "Did you ever see a cow sit? This is Mrs. #201, pictured waiting patiently on “Double R Farm” for local farmer Joe Rogers. We have had fun making captions for this picture."
Columbia Magazine had to ask, "Does Joe swear it’s really his Adair County farm, and that there's been no artful photoshopping? Is it the truth and nothing but the truth, which we get as close to as possible each and every day? Sgt. Burton says, "it’s the real deal!"

Stotts home discussed at Adair Heritage meeting
2024-03-12 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. The ancient little brick home silhouetted in the evening sky was under discussion at the Adair Heritage Association Tuesday evening. It was in the Stotts family, then the Lasley family. Efforts will be made to contact present owners to see if restoration of it and the cemetery behind it might be in the works. Contact Mike Watson, AHA president, at the Adair Genealogy and History Center in Columbia, 270.380.1024, 307 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY

Theater ticket booth
2024-03-12 - Southern Kentucky - Photo by Pen. A short hop from the Cumberland River sits a small Kentucky town with a quaint downtown populated by historic architecture, a couple of modern government buildings, a smattering of stores, dentist and lawyer's offices, all overlooked by a college campus on a hill. This downtown has an Art Deco theater in an arrested state of renovation.
Pictured is the entrance to the Lane Theater, in downtown Williamsburg, Kentucky. When I passed it on a recent walk, I saw echoes to the Columbian Theater. The Lane opened in 1948, and was a hub of social and cultural activity for 68 years before its closure in 1987.
