Students learn how to be effective poetry teachers

The students were part of a five-team competition in professor Jennifer Antoniotti-Neal's "Children's Literature" class that used the activity to review a unit on teaching poetry.

Storytelling Festival scheduled for June 19

The art of storytelling in the spirit of Mark Twain, one of America's most beloved authors, and son of Adair Countian Jane Lampton, is coming to Columbia June 19, 2026. This group of Lindsey Wilson University students, under the direction of professor Robert Brock, at right, is working with the City of Columbia and the Adair History and Genealogy Center to make it happen.

Birds of Kentucky: American Coot

This shy bird kept a few strategic reeds between himself and the camera at all times. All About Birds says that while American Coots can often be found swimming with ducks, "they're closer relatives of the gangly Sandhill Crane and the nearly invisible rails than of Mallards or teal."

Adair Co. team with their KUNA Awards

Kentucky United Nations Assembly (KUNA) took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Louisville on March 15-17, 2026, and this year's Adair County team brought home a record number of awards, including:
  • The Conference Life Award
  • School's Choice Resolution Award
  • Premier Delegation Award
  • Outstanding Doorkeeper Award
  • Outstanding Ambassador Award
Mrs. Candice Flatt, KUNA Advisor, says, "To say I am proud of these young ladies and gentlemen is an understatement. They are amazingly talented, generous, kind, intelligent, diplomatic, and I could go on and on!"
