The Grand Group, grandparents (or any other family member) raising grand (children), were treated to an organizational luncheon last week to see if there was interest in reviving the support group. Jennifer Sebastian, standing, works with the Adair County Schools Healthy Kids Clinic. The grandparents in attendance, Brenda Smith, Ada and Jane Walkup and Janet Wilkerson, thought it was a good organization to continue.

Winds have blown Memorial Day flowers into ditch lines

Mike reminds everyone who placed flowers in cemeteries this weekend before the storms rolled through that it would be a good idea to check for damage both to the physical cemetery as well as flowers that have been blown off and been lodged in fences, etc.

Breeding FD Technical Rescue Team in action

The Breeding FD Technical Rescue Team deployed 2 watercraft and retrieved 2 canoeists who had been stranded by floodwaters on Memorial Day.

Note: Responders are still trying to locate 2 unoccupied kayaks that were swept away by the floodwaters. If you encounter an unoccupied kayak on Russell Creek please mark the location if possible and contact Adair County E-911 at 270-384-6464.

Canoeists stranded by rushing waters on Green River

Two experienced canoeist put in on Green River at Liberty (Casey County) before Sunday night's rainfall. On Memorial Day, they capsized, forcing them to abandon their canoe approximately 5 miles upstream of Snake Creek Ramp.

They were located by KY Fish and Wildlife and then Breeding FD Technical Rescue Team deployed 2 watercraft and retrieved the individuals without incident or injury.
