Hunter School
2024-06-08 - Adair Co., KY - Photo courtesy Mike Watson. For much of the time the Hunter School was in existence, it was taught by the late Ruth Allen, except for one year when Jean Dohoney (now McLean) taught the school. Though it's now on Stotts Road, formerly Burkesville Road, it is still an unforgettable landmark for travelers along KY 61 South of the Louie B. Nunn Parkway in Adair County. Citizens Park development continues
2024-06-07 - Adair County, KY - Photo from City Hall, Columbia, KY. Citizens Park is in early stages of development but the beginning walking trail and the dog park are already usable. This drawing shows Burkesville Street arching from left to right along the bottom. The 17-acre Citizens Park property connects where the pink dots indicate future blooming trees. The bright white outline is the walking trail. The property parallels West Frasier Avenue which also connects to Burkesville Street.

2024-06-07 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Owners of this Purple Martin apartment complex shared that Purple Martin residences draw the birds to come for spring and summer and eat their weight in mosquitoes. I'm motivated to build a Purple Martin village so they can come enjoy dining on mosquitoes in Columbia. - LW

Communications assist requested
2024-06-07 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. One local official told Kathryn Burton she has to provide the pole number to get a street light bulb replaced on her corner of West Fortune and South Monroe Streets in Columbia. So far in her month long quest, she hasn't been able to get the light replaced. And when Columbia Magazine checked into it, the question becomes - which number for which utility company? There are more than three sets of numbers on the pole showing by the stop sign in this picture. Kathryn says, "please let there be light."
