Memphis Blues perform at annual meeting

The Adair County Homemakers thoroughly enjoyed the county annual meeting this month, themed Memphis Blues. In addition to business of welcoming new president Linda Taylor and Vice President Shannon Stephens, the showstopper of the meeting was the entertainment, by these four familiar talented Elvis impersonators.

Making state government aware of our county

Leaders of the local Economic Development Authority believe it is important for Columbia and Adair County to be present in Frankfort as much as possible, building relationships and reminding the Cabinet that we are still working hard to attract good-paying jobs. EDA meets in different location for remodeling

Columbia-Adair EDA representatives met in a different location during remodeling work at the Capital Wednesday. The KEDFA meeting was held on the 5th floor of the new Mayo Underwood building located on Mero Street in Frankfort. The Cabinet for Economic Development will be located here temporarily while the historic State Capitol Annex building undergoes repair.

Additional lighting announced in New Columbia

The City of Columbia marked the beginning of a project to add street lighting on KY-61 through the New Columbia business district this week. This project will take some time, but as this photo was taken, the Mayor said it was "the beginning of a great step forward for Columbia." From left are: Tim Smith, street supervisor; Troy Kimbler, contractor; Godfrey Jackson, Taylor County RECC; Mayor Hoots; summer interns Braylon Breeze and Trey Stephens; and Terry Moore, city maintenance.
