Trail Town Initiative and photo in want of a poem
2014-03-13 - Columbia City Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. It's fascinating scene, one of an endless number in the Columbia City Cemetery. And it ties into the the whole concept of Trail Towns. Two members of the Columbia Cemetery Commission, Lee Ann Jessie and Linda Waggener, have commented on the growing number of people who chose to regularly walk here for exercise and peace of mind. The old barn above and the quiet residential scene in the background are a favorite of those who regularly walk to the cemetery and spend 20-30 minutes there each day. It's already here. Little or no money needs to be spent to see it utilized more. Trail Town is a multi-faceted program which can touch almost every interest, from hiking/biking/running/walking, to horseback riding, canoeing, hunting/fishing, and specialty trails: History, ethnic interests, progress meals routes, art and photograph trails, bird and wildlife watching, tree trails, special villages trails, old school and church trails - there seem to be no limits. There will be a meeting of the Columbia/Adair Trail Town initiative this evening in the basement of Dr. J.C. Salato Building/Adair County Health Department Building, 801 Westlake Drive, Columbia, KY, at 6pmCT to hear Elaine Wilson speak on the subject. (Trail Town meeting with Elaine Wilson, speaker) Organizers are hoping for input those in city and county governments, candidate ideas, preventive medicine advocates, ministers and church groups, the hospital, parks & rec, and public and higher education groups, and civic organizations. (The Columbia Rotary is already "enrolled."). - ED WAGGENER
