Snow on Redbud & Cedar: Joy out my windshield
2014-04-15 - Cane Valley, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. The commute to Campbellsville and back to Columbia has some special perks. Today it's snow on favorite trees, Eastern Red Cedar and Redbud. Tomorrow it may be white dogwoods lining woodland-pasture borders, a little later, the purple of the pawlonia trees on Green River Hill - the tree my grandmother Addie love so much. And maybe this year - it doesn't happen every spring - the dogwoods and redbuds will have simultaneous shows of spendor, as they occasionally do for Easter. - CM

Spring Snow, April 15, 2014: A poignant reminder
2014-04-15 - E. Fortune Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by CM staff. Snow is falling this morning, providing this pleasant, but poignant scene, where Derby and Little Boy, two neighborhood favorites, lived until recently, happily munching apples proffered by their admirers. RIP, Derby, Little Boy. - EW

Larry Smith interviews Matt Bevin on the Big Dawg
2014-04-15 - 101 E Main Street, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Larry Smith. Matt Bevin stopped by the Big Dawg for an interview yesterday, (April 14, 2014) accompanied by two of my favorite people, Eddie and Tiffany Kessler of Columbia. He said that job creation will be a front burner item on his agenda if he is elected. He said his heart goes out to those 600 employees of Fruit of the Loom who are losing their jobs. Bevin said that his opponent has not created a single job since NAFTA took effect. He's a great guy. Pity he doesn't get on healthcare. He and others critical of Obamacare may be in for a rude awakening when it sinks in how many people are already benefit from it. Still, he was a great interview. - Larry Smith (Note on the 'product placement' Coke sign. CM is not promoting fizzy drinks. It's posted because it's historic. The Big Dawg Studio was once the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant in Campbellsville, KY. Today, Clark Beverage, the present day successor bottler also promotes healthier drinks, water & juices, as well.)
