"Rather than pulling or running away," Jon Halsey writes of he young doe evicted by the ear from her meal of the Halsey's tiger & day lilies, "she seemed to enjoy the attention. After exchanging pleasantries and catching up on the neighborhood gossip, she finally headed toward the holler for a long drink from the pond."

What was done, at spousal behest to do something
'I grabbed her ear (don't laugh, it works on the horses) to try to persuade her to move to less civilized surroundings,' Jon Halsey wrote later. Above, a two handed operation not recommended for amateurs: Halsey holds the young doe with one hand, holds 'Brownie' with other to capture his up close and personal encounter.

Why you see the patch but don't feel it

2014-06-23 - Greensburg Street at Monroe, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. It's been a topic of discussion around town: The smooth patches made during the waterline construction in downtown has been the subject of a lot of conversations. the construction company goes to great lengths to see that it happens. It starts with a $150/cu. yd. special quick set concrete. Then the concrete is finished with a lot of hands on work. This pour was being made across Greensburg Street at around 4pmCT. Steel plates cover it Monday morning while it fully cures, then will be removed, leaving a perfect strip which is visible but which is rarely if ever felt by passengers in vehicles riding over the patch. Pyles Concrete made the pour. Stotts Construction Co., LLC finished the concrete. The work was done under the scrutiny of a KY Department of Highways inspector and an inspector for Columbia Adair Utilities District.
