Today Jim harvested a green pepper and the sleek cucumber from our garden at the Cane Valley property. Supper tonight featured a chicken stir fry enhanced by the pepper, onions and garlic, while the cuke was served up in a marinade of vinegar, freshly ground pepper and a sprinkle of raw sugar. A Taste of Adair, the annual sampling of dishes made with garden products exclusively from Adair County, drew both the largest number of vendors for the Adair County Farmers Market in the Parking Lot of the Adair County Extension Office, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY. Taste of Adair and the market is scheduled 2pm-6pmCT or until supplies are exhausted. This was the scene just after 3pmCT, and vendors said they were doing a brisk business. Danny & Debbie Burris, D & D Longview Farm, Gradyville, KY have a great crop of berries coming in; they're at the Adair Farmers Market, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY today. Those berries which look a bit like red grapes are gooseberries. These were at FM2, and were very sweet, but as the days of the season pass, gooseberries generally get sweeter and sweeter - today's are the sweetest yet.
