At the 2024 Silent City history walk through the Columbia Cemetery, thanks to Lee Ann Jessee, pictured here, we got to meet Georgia Reed Shelton who taught school in one room schools in Adair County and became very involved with the school administration, and fundraising. She served as the first female to be Adair County School Superintendent.

A glimpse of Dr. John Nicholas Page's life

Mike Watson, pictured here, portrayed Dr. John Nicholas Page, an early druggist in Columbia, when their biggest competition was the doctors who also provided medicines. From Mike's research, he shared this history at Silent City 2024 in the historic Columbia Cemetery. Dr. Page spent most of his life in Columbia, except for a few winters in his latter days when he would spend the winter with his daughter and family in Louisville.

Marcum, Columbia hotel owner and businessman in the 2024 Silent City walk. The event had one of its largest crowds, walkers from the Library as well as those who drove in, on a perfect October evening, just cold enough to require coats. We'll add photos and history about each as the performers have time to share their notes.

Gathering at the Adair County Genealogy Center

Columbia Pharmacy's Run for Joy
 2024-10-21 - Columbia, KY - Photo by David Goguen. Runners prepare for the start of the 5K race that was a part of the Downtown Days Festival. Columbia Pharmacy sponsors the annual "Run for Joy". Proceeds from the race, which featured runners and walkers of all age groups, benefited J.O.Y Ministries and was well-attended this year.
Columbia Pharmacy shared a thank you message, "to all who came out to the second annual RUN FOR JOY 5K! We had a great morning of fun, fellowship, and fundraising. Congratulations to Kevin Cuin and Ireland
