Birds of Kentucky: Snowy Egret
 2025-05-07 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Pen. A snowy egret makes a somewhat rare appearance at Lake Shelby. All About Birds says that "Plume-hunting for the fashion industry killed many Snowy Egrets and other birds until reforms were passed in the early twentieth century. The recovery of shorebird populations through the work of concerned citizens was an early triumph and helped give birth to the conservation movement."

A blessing, song and colors at the grand reopening

Adair County High School Choir sang the Star Spangled Banner and ROTC performed the colors in the ceremony to celebrate the grand reopening of Walmart.

Grants given as part of Walmart community work

Trinity Church was given $4,000 for its food pantry, accepted by Ray Fluhr. Friends of Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery were given $1,000, accepted by Lisa Rosenthal and Charmaine Stewart. TJ Community Mission Foundation was given $1,500 and was accepted by Randy Burns.
