Jeremy Coomer fulfills civic duty: Votes in Squarecrow poll

2015-10-10 - In front of First & Farmers National Bank, Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo Ellen Zornes. There's been a heavy turnout of voters at the "poll" today, the Adair County Retired Teachers booth in front of the F&FNB. Earlier in the day, Ellen Zornes had already counted over 60 voters who had turned out to help their favorite Squarecrow win the prestigious People's Choice Award and the $25 jackpot which goes with the honor. We don't have an ongoing count, but Jeremy Coomer will no doubt be followed by vast numbers before the polls close at 6pmCT, this evening, and the tabulation begins. This should take long. After all these a school teachers totting up the figures. - EW

Scenic Adair Co., KY: Misty evening over Gradyville, KY

2015-10-10 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener.
Even on a rainy early fall afternoon, you can see forever from Jones Chapel Road, looking, above, over Gradyville, past Big Creek over low hills and rising fog, toward the cell tower at Weed, KY, and maybe, just maybe almost plum nelly to Metcalfe County. - CM
