2016-04-06 - Wild Turkey Distillery, Lawrenceburg, KY - Photo by Innocent Bystander. Mary Frances McCoy, Burkesville, KY, sends this momento from a fall 2015 outing with this note: Last fall we were out sight seeing in Kentucky and went to Boonesborough, and KY and also to the Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg, KY, where we took the Bourbon Trail Tour - thus the Turkey Barrel Rides, above. That's my husband, John Walker McCoy on the right. We had a fun day - but then we have a lot of fun whereever we are." Mary F. McCoy, Burkesville, KY.

Scenic Adair County, KY: Yellow button flower - Japonica?
2016-04-06 - Near Knifley, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM photo. This is one of my favorite spring flowers from childhood memories. It bloomed in Forsythia time at my grandmother's house in Sulphur Well, Metcalfe County, KY. Though it would seem impossible to stand out among showy Forsythia, these little guys, with there deeper, slightly darker yellow color, always did. I called them yellow button flower, but I'm wondering if Japonica might be the right name? It bloomed on one side of the farmhouse. -- LW

Scenic Adair Co., KY: Redbud, Dogwood, & Red Cedar
2016-04-06 - Knifley Road, Adair County, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, CM. It's a time we look for every spring, a time with both redbud and dogwoods are in bloom. Some years the seasons seem almost distinct, with redbud fully fading before dogwoods come into their own. Some years, the seasons are together, with dogwood trailing redbud by just a few days. This year, as here, they are just right. We're probably not the only ones who make sure we get a chance to see this scene each annual opportunity. - ED & LINDA
