2016-04-22 - Adair Board of Education, 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com(c).
Adair County Board of Education members were greeted with huge thank you notes, signed by students from Adair County Elementary School, and by Adair County Primary School, above, acknowledging the giant step taken this year in technology. The photo was taken at the Thu 22 Apr 2016 regular monthly session of the board. Technology Director Carla Perkins and the leadership of each school chose the devices. Current thinking is that iPads are better for the younger students at Adair County Primary Center, while Chromebooks are the device of choice for students in the higher levels. - EW. Paired photo. Landmark Trees of Adair Co., KY: Magnificent beech, Tabor
2016-04-22 - Tabor Community Church, 1477 Fairplay Road, Columbia KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. Tabor Community Church on Scenic KY Highway 704, is surrounded by pleasing countryside that it's often taken in as a whole, without noting the the trees in the forest. However, this big beech, at the edge of the little country church's parking lot, couldn't be ignored. Tabor is only the first of an extraordinary string of picture calendar country churches which dot the roadside, are lovingly preserved, and have as much to do with the official designation, "Scenic Highway," as the unmatched beauty of KY 704's farms woodlands, streams and wildlife along the way. - EW/LW
