Funnel cloud looks to be over ACPC in this photo

2016-05-11 - Adair County Schools Campus, Columbia, KY - Photo by Nick Lewis.
Nick Lewis took this dramatic photo around 7:30pm Tuesday, May 10, 2016. It appears to be a funnel cloud right over the location of Adair County Primary Center, looking westward from the Greensburg Street entry to the Adair Public School campus. He works with the school system and was nearby as storms flew through the area. A close inspection shows some of the hail we received in the foreground. Thanks to Nick for sharing his storm photo, and to his friend Sharon Johnson for recommending it. -- LW

Hail, last night, was ankle deep around ATS Mobility plant buildings

2016-05-11 - ATS Mobility, 238 Development Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
The hail was calf-deep on the ground just under eaves where where hail which hit and dented the roofs slid to the ground. It melted really quickly, Rob Wilkerson, CEO, above, said. When this photo was taken Wednesday afternoon, the young businessman was running on borrowed energy. Getting the production back on track, assuring deliveries as promised, working with insurance adjusters and handling scheduling of production workers had left little time for sleep, much less the gymnastics asked of him to illustrate the depth of the hail last night. His mind at the time was on the damage to the 150 or so vehicles on the lot, all of which sustained dents. He's noticed today at the pavers he's standing on have dots of white made by the hail. - EW
