Pam Capozziello writes, "I would just like to wish all Veterans, especially my father Arthur Broga, who passed away last September, Happy Memorial Day and thank you all for your service and sacrifice for our country.

My dad served four years in the Navy. President Eisenhower came aboard his ship once - what an honor."

Banners downtown honor Veterans

Mayor Pam Hoots and Doug Peterson, Coast Guard Veteran, at the dedication ceremony for the banners hung around Columbia in honor of veterans on Friday, May 23, 2025 at City Hall. Those veterans are from the Vietnam War, Korean War, World War I, World War II, and active duty. A list of names on banners for 2025 is linked to this photo.

Adair County Veteran featured in book about Vietnam

The book about an Infantry Company's Battles During the 1969 Tet Offensive, The Delta Dogs, details a two-month journey on the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Veteran Ronnie Lee Janes of Columbia is featured in a chapter of the book. He is giving a copy to the libraries in Adair, Russell and Taylor Counties in honor of those who served from this region.
