Metcalfe Co. line: Compelling temptation to walk across a shire
2016-08-07 - Chattanooga Highway, Breeding, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c). Most people have always felt a primal urge to walk across Metcalfe County, haven't they? I know I have, and on June 9, 2016 I did. Created a bucket list item. Accomplished it in less than two hours after conceiving the notion, and ended up with bucket list items that will take a total of seven dedicated sally-forths. - EW

Concrete survey post marks Russell-Adair line on KY 55
2016-08-06 - by Ragan Cemetery entrance, Crocus/Graball, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. Concrete survey posts at county lines may be common, but this is the first one we'd noticed. Are they at most county lines? Or are they from an earlier age? In the background is Ragan Cemetery. The entrance to the cemetery is in Adair County, but most of the burial ground is in Russell. Comments on the concrete marker would be appreciated. - EW/LW. Photo Saturday, August 6, 2016.

Rides X: This one is a delightfully aging landmark pickup truck
2016-08-06 - Near U.S. Post Office, 800 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Tommy Bailey. "Every time I frequent the Post Office my eyes always zoom in on this old pickup. I guess because old trucks are my thing. I don't see it as unsightly peace of rusting junk, but a landmark. Couldn't help but notice the chrome rims around the headlights seem to be doing well." - Tommy Bailey Readers: It's definitely General Motors - appears to be more Chevrolet than GMC. But we'd love an expert to weigh in. My first vehicle was a similar truck. It had a straight six, and was great to drive, except for the time spent unlocking the stick shift linkage about once a day when it would get stuck. - EW. The next previous ride: Rides IX: Joey Tucker 1955 Chevy Ton-&-A Half at Bread of Life
To share your favorite ride, text a phone photo with your name, town, vehicle make/model to Linda at 270-403-0017. RIDES pictures that are shared just for fun are FREE. If you want to add your phone number and the note that your RIDE is for sale, there would be a small nominal classified ad fee.
