Lindsey Tower from high point a mile away
2016-09-11 - from Industrial Drive & Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c). South Central Kentucky seems to have endless high points and limitless vistas in, for many of us, new and undiscovered places. This view of the original Raider Bob Tower tower, the one million gallon whopper at Holladay Place, is from what many old-timers remember as the Beulah Bennett place - now undergoing development. The water tower now has a rival for attention - the onion tank on the Lindsey Wilson campus itself. It also includes the college's famed and often imitated slogan, "Every Student Every Day," and appears to have had perfect alignment to be seen by westbound travelers on KY 206/Liberty Road and from Jamestown Street, by northbound travelers. - Ed Waggener

2016-09-10 - Old Knifley Grade Center Campus - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c). They simply cook good, in Knifley, KY. The food served in the Old Knifley Grade Center was a delight, today, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Revisit Knifley. Never heard of anyone getting a plate they didn't like at a Knifley community event, in fact. The price for this plate (above minus one or two pieces of fish, more fries) was $7.99. With the Pepsi cold drink, it was $9.00 even. Clicking Read More accesses the full schedule of of the 10 Sep 2016 Revisit events with more photo(s). Building gets C-2 Hwy oriented commercial zoning approval
2016-09-10 - Andersons Pizzeria, 1411 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com (c). This location received a second reading approval for being entered officially in the Columbia Planning & Zoning map zoned C-2 Highway Oriented Commercial at a special meeting of the Columbia City Council on Thursday, September 8, 2016. The building is owned by Don James, and is leased by John Thomas, operating Anderson's Pizzeria. Anderson's made the move to the City because of more restrictive ABC rules in the County. In addition to paying city property tax - as well as county - the business, with some 30 employees, will be contributing to the City of Columbia Payroll tax, and alcoholic beverage taxes which would have gone to Adair County will go to the city coffers. The business will, for now could be annexed because Campbellsville Road itself, for some two more miles, is within the limits of Columbia.

Sister home to the Historic Butler House
2016-09-10 - High Street, Columbia, KY - Photo from ColumbiaMagazine.com files. Historian Jim writes of the twin of the Historic Butler House he writes of in the Read More Story linked to this article. In speaking of the Butler house, Jim writes, my friend remarked, "Its 'twin' on High Street" - the house, above, of similar construction long occupied by Mrs. Butler's sister and brother-in-law, Lorena and R.F. Paull -- "has been so beautifully restored." Many would hope that the future for the Butler House on Greensburg might be even half as pleasing as the Chuck Rogers House, above. If it should be, it would be one of the 10-25 or so greatest architectural treasures in the city. - EW
