Even though she doesn't like them herself, she mastered the family recipe years ago to help out with Thanksgiving dinners. When posed with the question "how many should I make," I said with no hesitation, "All of them!" She balked, until I asked, "have you ever thrown away a deviled egg?" She could remember only a single deviled egg ever going to waste, and that maybe under extenuating circumstances, like a power outage or the Iran Hostage Crisis.
