Adair County Regional Jailer Joey White, left, defended the jail's budget at a meeting Monday, April 10, 2017 of the Fiscal Court Budget Committee. His report followed that of Adair County 911 Director Jason Upchurch. Both officials said that budgets should continue to improve with recent salary adjustments which brought Adair County in line, or better, than neighboring counties. No action was taken on changing allocations for the jail. Jailer White said that while currently the jail is operating well within its budget, that could change to a deficit if State Prisoners are removed, and noted that Adair County's facility is the third most overcrowded in the state, after Bell and Lincoln Counties. Neighborhoods: The Jones-Wright keeps improving with age 2017-04-11 - Appen Avenue, Jones Wright Addition, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. It was gorgeous yesterday, but the best is yet to come as Easter approaches in the Jones Wright neighborhood. The is now in its seventh decade, built in the mid 1900's for engineers and executives working on the construction of Wolf Creek Dam. Then, as now, it has been blessed with great citizens. It is, according to it's greatest proponent, Edwin Taylor, Columbia's best kept secret.
