Right-of-way treats like these ripening blackberries have always been a help humans and animals alike, but now that's changed with weedkiller. My love of roadside growth and wishes to see if left alone has had to be altered this season with the onslaught of the poison Hemlock, the fast-spreading dangerous weed that has been in the news so much. Mitzi Bault, kayaking: A new, exhiliarating experience experience 2017-06-18 - Russell Creek, between NAPA & Pelham Br. Rd. take-out - Photo by Mitzi Bault. The scenery on Russell Creek is beautiful along this stretch of Adair County's Paddle Trail. Yesterday one of the standouts was this gorgeous mimosa tree, not only a sight for the eyes, but for the nose as well. (They say age changes our ability to smell, but mine has grown more sensitive.Almost everyone knows that the mimosa tree is hated by many as unwelcome immigrant species. It's a legume and the beans are toxic to livestock and humans - so a bit dangerous to have in a yard. The photo was taken for the satisfaction it gives me and for a favorite aunt, from Metcalfe County, who often talks fondly of the memories of the mimosa tree she most vividly remembers which adorned her house in Sulphur Well, and for Uncle Ed, who will privately admit how much he likes the trees, especially as summer approaches. - Mitzi Read More... | Comments? | Click here to share, print, or bookmark this photo.
