Miss Victoria, Vicky Browning Pike, sent this picture of Pinewood Shopping Center, as seen from her 'girls' across the dividing line between New Columbia and Greater Bliss, Edmonton Road/KY W 80, last night. It was either the first occasion for the new center to be seen in all its glory - or the first time Miss Vicky and the girls at Miss Victoria's Pampered Angus Ranch noticed them. Fairy Circle or Elf Ring. East 80 Hwy near East 80 Estates. Went by this oddity several times before I decided to stop and take a picture before the lawn mower took them down. Antique quilt over oak table and placed under glass

This quilt, in very poor condition, was among some cherished old quilts that my grandmother Waggener gave me years ago that had been made by my great grandmother Etna Edith McCaffree Waggener, "Granny Waggener". I got my nerve up to cut this quilt to fit my Violets table, and on the backside discovered it had feed sack backing with the word 'Columbia' on it. I've had this quilt for nearly 40 years and I always looked at the front of it, so it was a fun surprise.

Stamp on back of antique quilt handed down

This discovery was made going through some old quilts that my grandmother Audrey Chelf Waggener gave me years ago. She told me that my great grandmother Etna Edith McCaffree Waggener made it and this quilt backing must have been a handy feed sack repurposed back in that day.

Goodyear Blimp: Misses HGR Fall Festival by two days

The Goodyear Blimp was two days early for the Fall Heritage Festival at Homeplace as it passed over the famed center of the Universe, Lemmons' Bend. Don't know where it was heading but it could not be as special as "The Great Wooded South" or the event will surely pale in comparison to the spectacle of the Fall Heritage Festival at Homeplace on Saturday!
