Mystery Church: What a difference 6 decades make 2017-09-10 - Living by Faith Church, 3041 Edmonton Road, Columbia, KY - Photo Original by Joseph Allison, Nu-Art Studio; Latest by Ed Waggener. The church on the left was, in 1956, the Union campus of the Columbia-Union Presbyterian Church, after the two churches merged. Later it was the Gradyville United Methodist Church, and today is home to Living by Faith Church. A number of changes have been made, including the addition of a Fellowship Hall at the rear of the church, the heating system no long requires a chimney and was removed when the new roof was added. Adair County Historian Mike Watson correctly identified the mystery church, and, was correct in naming E.L. Dohoney as a famous author identified with the sanctuary, though we had in mind Albert Capwell Wycoff, who was pastor of Columbia-Union Presbyterian Church from 1946-1953 according to N.M. Berley - and hoped someone might also find an association with Mark Twain's Lampton lineage. The Wilson family worked an open house in Columbia today -- from left are mom Jill, daughter Gracie, son Simon and dad Chris. Gracie is a student at ACMS and Simon is a sophomore at ACHS. They held open house for the Myers auction that is being held completely on the internet for those who wanted to examine the home in person. Golden Rule Wilson Realty is the first to hold online-only auctions in Adair County. The first one with personal property was held last year. Chris says they offer both types of auctions, online as well as the traditional on-property, and the seller makes the decision based on their needs. Meals are back at Farmers Market on the Square as of today, Saturday, Sept 9, 2017. The young ladies in the center are Emily Kirksey and December Smith, ACMS students, who enjoyed ice cream. The guys are regulars who help with the food tent. Serving up the lunch was Lois Cunningham who said meals would be regular for the rest of the season. Next week breakfast will be added back starting at 8amCT with breakfast, and continuing to lunchtime until 12:30 or the food runs out, whichever comes first.
