Harold Burton, Adair County 1st District Magistrate, had dozens, maybe hundreds of collector license plates, including this 1958 Adair County, KY plate with the number 60 for sale at his stand at the Revisit Knifley Festival on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Time was, a lot of people had license numbers, owners, and the vehicle they were on as stored data in their heads. It would be a long shot if anyone recalls who had this one - and their ride - from almost six decades ago, but it would be good to know. Rhubarb conjures up pie in my past 2017-09-11 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. The sight of beautiful rhubarb "pie plant" conjures up rhubarb pies of the past (phrase inspired by Betty Sue Jasper's famous phrase with her classic picture of blackberries of nearly a decade ago "I see a cobbler in my future"). Rhubarb grew in abundance in a long row in Mother's "Little Garden" on Jamestown Hill, and Rhubarb was the main ingredient for many cobbler desserts. Seems that fewer and fewer restaurants offer rhubarb now, though we used to see it quite regularly when in season here. But thinking of the plant as merely a dessert item is a very narrow view. There are many, many uses for the stalks, enumerated in this article: Wikipedia_Rhubarb. By the way, some articles suggest using the leaves, whose toxicity is quite high, as pot cleaners.
