Many of Columbia's neighboring cities have innovated to move traffic at higher volume, though at slower speeds, adding cautionary visual cues to alert drivers to watch for pedestrians. In Greensburg, KY, at West Court and 1st Street, a "STOP" sign on the pavement provides an alert for drivers. Granted, this is a city street, which makes it snap to provide the roadway signage, many communities are finding that Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is receptive to ideas to make travel safer for all. The city also has another added protection for pedestrians: On street parking on both sides of the street, adding to the viability of downtown businesses. Most weekdays (this was a Sunday afternoon view) the spaces are filled. We didn't see any vacant buildings along the way. It's a thriving neighborhood. - EW. Lindsey Wilson College's Minja Gligic and Jovana Peric captured the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Region women's doubles title Sunday, September 24, 2017, at the Lackey Tennis Center. The Blue Raider tandem defeated Campbellsville's (Ky.) Kaede Amano and Majella Nobile -- the tournament's top-seed -- 8-6 to claim the title. Today's win marks the second-seeded team that Gligic and Peric defeated during the single-elimination tournament. They also dismissed the third-seed pair during the tournament. Gligic and Peric ended the tournament with a 5-0 record. Gligic and Peric posted a 14-3 record last season as a doubles team.
