Smith store glistened on a fall day, a reassuring sign that the historic landmark continues to be loved and protected. For many, it is more an icon of the lure of Russell County than - well, Lure Lodge, Wolf Creek Dam, even the Star Theatre or the Doughboy. Though those, too, are irreplaceable. For many, though, Unhurried Russell County, the farms and fields and streams away from the impoundment are the real, lasting attractions.
