Pretty Maddie Stang, was the winner of the Downtown Days Pageant Tiny Toddler (12-23 months) competition, held Saturday, October 14, 2017 during the festival. Maddie is the daughter of Tony & Miranda Stang. Miranda works the morning shift and opens most mornings here, at Liberty Road General Store and Diner. We are so proud of the Stangs. - PSE

This view from the Blue Ridge Parkway looks into the mountains of North Carolina. It was taken by my cousin Don Sandidge who is traveling there for work this month. Reminded me of wonderful trips between Knoxville, TN and Ashville, NC in years past. I thought that area just had had it all, from the mountains to the seaside, and everything in between. -- LW

Progress on one of Adair County Entreneur Shannon Sexton's partnerships with husband Bruce Sexton and inlaws Mendel and LaGene Sexton, has, as of this afternoon, new signage. Work on the new center is quickening, and openings are expected in early to mid November. As well, additional businesses are locating there, with Black Stallion Steakhouse opening announced yesterday, with other commitments expected soon. - EW
