Mitzi McKinley Bault: A naval veteran's memorabilia
2017-11-10 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Mitzi Bault. Mitzi Bault created this memory case, or shadow box, for memorabilia from L.G. "Peanut" McKinley's service years. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6097, was Post Commander post quartermaster and secretary treasurer at the post; the small folded flag was present to him for his services as Post Commander. The coin was also presented at a state VFW meeting. The cap is, obviously, the VFW Post 6097 uniform cap. The cartridge was from the Full Military Honors render at his funeral.

My Doggie is Home: Daisy is back
2017-11-10 - Keltner Road, Columbia, KY - Photo . Daisy is homeMya Mullins and her brother Tristan Mullins, are shown yesterday right after school. Timothy Mullins, their father, opened the door and saw the dog. When the kids got off the bus and saw her, they were shouting and screaming, and crying for joy. "Daisy's home!" The family wants to thank the Samaritan - who, they believe - must have taken Daisy in out of the cold, and later learned where she lived, and brought her back. Grandmother Sandy Ford says last night the celebration for the prodigal's return was fun and went on for a few hours. Mya and Tristan kept calling her, she said, to tell her just how happy they were. "Mya's last call was that she was ready to sleep and snuggle with Daisy," who is a house dog and who only goes out for runs and essential calls.

Scenic Taylor County, KY: Autumn beauty in post harvest colors
2017-11-10 - Near Lake Road, above Green River Lake, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. A reminder that scenery in our Planet Earth Paradise is grand in all it's transitions: Bright fall foliage has peaked, but there is always grand sights in each passage of time. As in this farmland between Coburg and the Ireland Community, near Lake Road. A secret: Many residences command overlooks Green River Lake rarely found elsewhere - where Louisville Corps policies have favored environmental preservation. - EW
