Robert writes, "The trailhead for Harper's Corner starts where the pavement ends. It is a 2-mile round trip hike that is easy to moderate. The ever changing scenery and views along the length of the hike make it, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful places you'll ever lay your eyes on!"

Welcome to the Public Square - Downtown Days 2025

This will be the scene Friday evening and all day Saturday with the only traffic on Columbia's Public Square being that of pedestrians enjoying food, fun and entertainment. Vehicles will be routed through the alleys around town, as the Square will be completely blocked off. The Veterans Memorial Bypass will be a welcome relief for those who need to move through Columbia quickly and not be held up by lines. Click on Columbia Magazine "Events" for a complete listing.

Downtown Days traffic changes start Friday morning

Columbia's Public Square will be closed to traffic for the annual Downtown Days Fall Festival beginning at 10amCT on Friday, October 10, 2025, and will remain closed through 1pmCT on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Temporary signage will be posted one block from the Columbia Public Square to guide drivers during this time. Officers of the Columbia Police Department will be assisting with traffic management to ensure everyone's safety. Please use extreme caution and watch for families walking around the weekend festival activities.

Tom Emberton Metcalfe County Courthouse

A life-sized bronze sculpture will depict the late Judge Tom Emberton in front of the Courthouse named in his honor. The unveiling of the statue will be held at 1:30pmCT on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

The late Thomas Emberton, above, will be honored an individual who was a noted leader and stateman serving his country, the commonwealth, and community his entire adult life, with the unveiling of a statue by internationally recognized sculptor Amanda Matthews at the Tom Emberton Metcalfe County Courthouse in Edmonton on November 2, 2025.
