LWC alum weds in California -- 78 years ago 2017-12-10 - Edmonton, KY and Oroville, CA . These clippings of the wedding announcements in Edmonton, KY and in Oroville, CA newspapers will be included in the Christmas card to my cousin Patti Wangelin Reed this season because they are about the wedding of her mother and father, Dasye Magdaline Leftwich and Henry Wangelin. I'm sure she has them already, but they will be sent to her just in case. The clippings had been carefully kept by my Mom, Geniece Marcum, who always said Dasye was the sister who helped her develop a love of the printed word through her bedtime poetry readings in the girls bedroom of the old farmhouse in Edmonton. Patti and I have kept up correspondence between Kentucky and California through our lifetimes, carrying on the tradition started by our mothers after Aunt Dasye married and moved to California. I was reminded reading these documents that both Aunt Dasye and Aunt Isabelle Leftwich Sandidge attended Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, another good tradition. In a later note from Patti, the "modish frock" in the news was a gold crepe suit and she provided the date which was February 11, 1939.
