Surprise Lilies, Aunt Isabelle grew them
2024-08-25 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Every summer in a sea of orange lilies, both wild and fine bred, these gentle pinks bloom and catch us by surprise. That's probably why they are called "Surprise Lilies." I always think of my Aunt Isabelle Leftwich Sandidge who grew them in Edmonton. They'd brighten the farm just when every living thing was beginning to look tired and dusty, in the humid August heat and we couldn't help but smile.

Nine thumbs for play in Russell Springs

Barnlot play, Rumors, given good reviews

After their trip to see the play, Joan shared, "My best friends and I went to see Neil Simon's "Rumors" Saturday at Barnlot Theater in Edmonton, KY. If you haven't seen it, go! It's so well done and so funny! Check out Barnlot Theater. The next play is "To Kill A Mockingbird" in October. From left are: Joan McKinney, Teresa Elmore and Connie Wilson.
