To the Voters of Adair County, KY I have been very blessed to meet many of you over the last few months at your residence, public venues, or maybe just walking through one of our local retailers. Wherever it may have been, I thank you so much for taking the time to talk to me. We still have several days until the May 22nd primary election and I will be working diligently to meet as many more of you as I can. If I failed to meet you, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Josh Brockman and I'm a Republican Candidate for Sheriff of Adair County. I am the son of Larry (Chuck) and Cathy Bryant Brockman . I have been married 16 years to Amy Brockman, the daughter of Gary (Archie) and Geneva Brock Sneed. We are both lifelong residents of Adair County, where we are blessed to raise our three boys, Leighton, Gavin, and Camden. We are members of Bethany Baptist Church where I serve as a Deacon and we take great joy in raising our family in a Christian home. Aside from our careers, we operate a small farm in the Clay Ridge Community of Adair County. I began my career in law enforcement as an Adair County Deputy Sheriff in 2001 and graduated the Department of Criminal Justice Police Academy on 2002. Since that day I have completed over 1800 hrs of continued education in law enforcement application in areas of leadership, drug investigations, advanced accident and criminal investigations, interviews and interrogation, criminal patrol, hazmat, and community policing. I have training at the local, state, and federal levels. I am currently employed with the Columbia Police Department where, in addition to my police duties, I serve as the Public Information Officer and Firearms instructor. I am employed part time with Adair County EMS as KY certified EMT and I served 13 years as a volunteer firefighter in Adair County. I have dedicated my entire adult life to serving Adair County in emergency services. I don't hold any titles or positions of power. All I can stand on is my record and commitment to this community as an officer with integrity and values. I am no stranger to a 60-70 hr work week and I have always put in the hours needed to complete the task. I will only make you one promise as a candidate and that is, if elected, I will come to work each and every day of my term giving you all that I have and performing to the best of my abilities. To the Voters of Adair County, KY: My name is Gale Cowan and I am a republican candidate for Adair County Judge Executive. I have lived in Adair County my whole life. I have been married to my husband Jamie Cowan for 23 years. We have 2 children, Brady and Beth Ann Cowan. My parents are David and Betty (Kessler) Burris. I am a member of the Pickett's Chapel United Methodist Church where I have served as a Sunday School Teacher for over 15 years. I graduated Adair County High School in 1990 and went on to obtain my Associates Degree in Business Administration at Lindsey Wilson College. I have worked in the Adair County Judge's Office for 23 years. I have worked for 3 other Judge's from both political parties. I have tremendously enjoyed my time working for the citizens of Adair County and hope to be able to continue that service as your next Adair County Judge Executive. When I filed as a candidate for Judge Executive, I did not file to run "against" anyone. I filed to run "for" the people of Adair County. Some things I want to work on if I am elected are first and foremost, listening to YOU, the voters of Adair County. I want to know what you want to see accomplished and what you want to see achieved the next 4 years. I want to see our recycling and solid waste programs work in conjunction with each other. If the voters could stop at a convenient location to leave their recyclables, they could spend less when they dump their garbage, but in turn help the recycling revenue by leaving recyclable materials that could be sold by the county. Our recycling center needs more storage space so they can store full loads of recyclables which would entice other companies to come here to buy our products. I want to see our law enforcement, jail, and court system work together on the drug problem. Yes, we need to get the users and dealers off the streets. Yes, they need to be incarcerated. But they don't need to spend days, months, or years in a county jail costing the county over $30 per day to house. We need to get drug rehab facilities built in our area and get them the help they desperately need and get them back into the work force. We need industry but what is the point in getting more jobs here when we don't have the work force to fill the jobs. There are jobs available now but we don't have individuals to fill them. They may not be the jobs people want, but sometimes you have to work your way up the ladder to get where you want to be. Then we need to work on getting industry in here with more jobs and get our family members working back at home instead of driving out of the county to work. I have worked hard to meet as many republican voters as possible over the last several months. If I have missed you, I am truly sorry. It is next to impossible to get over the entire county while at the same time working a 40 hour work schedule and raise a family. I hope to have the opportunity to visit with democratic voters over the next few months.
