Scenic Adair County, KY: Mirror clear pond near Gadberry

Historically one of the most pristine country byways - back when well-enough was left alone, Johnson School Road had even higher entrance for wildlife, wildflower, butterfly and bird enthusiasts. The road still is predominately that way, despite mechanical and chemical assaults on the roadsides. This scene, with a a crystal clear pond mirroring the shoreline, is one of those. - EW. Flowers: Lovely Rose of Sharon/Hibiscus syriacus

One of the loveliest flowers in bloom at the moment is this flower commonly called Rose of Sharon, or Hibiscus syriacus seen Thursday, August 30, 2018 beside a freestone masonry wall near Gadberry, at the place remembered by many as the Forrest & Cleo Jones Place. - EW.

Five vehicle crash being worked at Veterans Bypass & Burkesville Road

After victims had been evacuated for medical help, first responders directed wreckers to begin freeing up the roadways at the intersection of the Columbia, KY Veterans Memorial Bypass at its connection with Burkesville Street/Road.

Adair County Sheriff Harrison Moss handles traffic at the scene of a five-vehicle crash Friday, 31 Aug 2018. North-south traffic on Burkesville Street and Road was allowed to flow slowly as first responders made sure all injured were evacuated from the scene and clean-up and removal of vehicles began.

A five-vehicle crash is being responded to at this writing, 11:27amCT, in Columbia, KY at the intersection of the Veterans Memorial Bypass and Burkesville Road. Traffic is moving slowly from north to south. Vehicles are mostly stopped, backed up on the bypass from the intersection as ambulances and wreckers move in. - LW
